Press release — Berlin, 20.07.2021
Hubject and Plugsurfing have renewed their long-lasting international partnership to support the growth of EV charging in Europe. Hubject, the world's largest eRoaming provider, will continue to give Plugsurfing access to their eRoaming platform intercharge. This will bring the customers of Plugsurfing’s eMobility service access to 150,000 charging stations across Europe.
The roots of this trusted partnership trace back to 2012 when both companies started their operations at the famous EUREF campus in Berlin, Germany. Their joint perspective on making charging electric vehicles radically simple has provided a north star throughout the nearly ten subsequent years of electric vehicle development in Europe.
“As the market gets more complicated for businesses, it should remain simple for drivers,” says Tatu Kulla, Plugsurfing CEO. “We’re better off when we collaborate on solutions with other forerunners of eMobility.”
Over time, the incremental developments from Plugsurfing and Hubject teams have centered on connecting the operations that charge point operators run to the drivers who need to charge. Promoting interoperability ultimately brings about a higher quality public charging experience, because values like accessibility, variety of choice, seamless connection and transparency are brought to the forefront.
"Strengthening our cooperation with Plugsurfing will certainly improve interoperability on the market, and we are looking forward to a long-term partnership,” says Christian Hahn, Hubject CEO.
Long-lasting partnerships will be one of the key catalysts to developing an eMobility system that will power electric vehicle adoption across Europe. It leads to the steady growth of the market and acceleration towards zero-emission mobility, which is a key priority for all players. As always, Plugsurfing users can discover, access and pay for charging at the participating charge point operators via the Plugsurfing RFID charging key and mobile app.
Plugsurfing is pioneering a new wave of sustainable mobility by making car charging easy. Plugsurfing brings energy to EV drivers with a platform that serves more than 650 000 drivers and connects EV drivers to more than 220,000 charging points across Europe. We serve leading charging point operators, car makers and fleets with our digital services platform that has already processed more than 17 million charging sessions. Plugsurfing was founded in 2012 in Berlin and was acquired fully by Fortum Oyj in 2018.
