Hubject and ubitricity are joining forces to foster seamless EV charging all over Europe

Berlin, September 24, 2020 — Hubject and ubitricity are joining forces to foster seamless EV charging all over Europe. Based on this collaboration, ubitricity, and Hubject – both experienced and mature companies being in the market since 2011 (ubitricity) and 2012 (Hubject) – are collaborating to open the 2nd largest charging network in the UK to EV drivers of eMobility Service providers using the largest international roaming network provided by Hubject.Charging of an electric vehicle is still a complex topic these days – especially when there is no access to a privately-owned charging station at home or the workplace. Therefore ubitricity started to collaborate with partners to install over 2,200 charge points in 18 months. Now 16 of the 32 London boroughs, including councils such as Westminster, Kensington, and Chelsea, Camden, Hammersmith, and Fulham offer public on-street charging with ubitricity's lamp post chargers. The charge points of ubitricity are installed inside of street light poles, eliminating not only furniture clutter and the need for external components but also preserving the look and feel of the street. EV drivers can access the charge points with a standard charging cable via the “Pay As You Go” option. Now a new option will be added until the end of 2020, by allowing the use of eMobility Service provider apps more EV drivers will get direct access to the extensive charging network of ubitricity.Lex Hartman, CEO of ubitricity stated: “This collaboration gives ubitricity a boost to accelerate what we have been working on: open protocols, open standard charging infrastructure, and access for all EV drivers. EV charging of the future will be much easier for every driver than refueling a car with a combustion engine. With Hubject, we can now make our charge points available to an even wider range of EV drivers. All you need is a smartphone and a standard cable."By cooperating with Hubject ubitricity expands the eMobility network and takes it to the next level – a broad public charging infrastructure with a connection to the largest eRoaming platform. This is especially relevant for the end customers because EV charging needs to become as simple as possible.Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject added: “eMobility is a global trend – therefore I believe in global solutions which help to reduce the complexity for EV drivers – or to better use, an old statement: think global - act local – also for EV charging”.About ubitricity Gesellschaft für verteilte Energiesysteme mbHubitricity stems from “ubiquitous electricity” and it’s the company’s mission to provide “Electricity, for Everyone, Everywhere” through its range of intelligent solutions for charging and billing electric cars. ubitricity Group was established in 2008 in its headquarters in Berlin, Germany.
